About The Eminent Speaker:Dr R Venkateswaran
Dr. R. Venkateswaran, also known as Venki, serves as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Accelerite. Dr. Venkateswaran is responsible for product development, with an obsessive focus on delivering solutions that are high -quality, best-in-class, and innovative. He is the Senior Vice President of Engineering, Products & IP, Persistent Systems Limited. As the Senior Vice President of Engineering, Dr. Venkateswaran is responsible for building high-quality and innovative products that form a significant non-linear revenue stream for Persistent Systems.
Dr.Venkateswaran served as the Head of Telecom Business Unit at Persistent Systems Limited. He has undertaken various roles over the years, including that of Chief Technology Officer, Head of Strategic Initiatives as well as Business Head for Telecom Business. Prior to joining Persistent Systems in 2002, Dr. Venkateswaran served as Researcher at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies from 1995 to 1997 and as a part of Chief Technology Officer -CIO office at Lucent Technologies from 1997 to 2002.
Dr. Venkateswaran’s PhD research focus was on Multicast Routing Protocols. He holds multiple patents in the area of ATM Multicasting, and has authored numerous research papers that have been published in prestigious journal and conferences. Dr. Venkateswaran earned a B.Tech degree and M.Tech degree in Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1988 and 1992 respectively and a PhD in Computer Science from Washington State University in 1997. His PhD Research focus was on Multicast Routing Protocols.
Outline of the talk: Evolution of Internet: The Past, Present and Future
This talk covers the first 40 years of Internet evolution—the initial 20 years on the growth, the subsequent 20 years on the challenges of scale and speed. Drawn from personal experiences and insights, this talk presents the various technology options and architectural decisions that have helped Internet to scale to the heights we know today. The last part of the talk presents the challenges for next generation Internet and the current research in areas such as Software-Defined Networks and Network Function Virtualizations.
